Music City Trail Ultra
Music City Trail Ultra is a trail running event held the first weekend of March at 2150 Sams Creek Road, Pegram, Tennessee. The event offers multiple distances and takes place on land that connects to the Cheatham Wildlife Games Reserve, an area with steep trails and ridge-line views.
Distances
- 50k about half trail and half jeep or gravel roads
- 25k roughly 65% trail and the rest jeep and gravel roads
- 12k roughly 75% trail and the rest jeep and gravel roads
The course is described as rugged and technical, with a mixture of single track and jeep trails. Aid stations appear roughly every 5 to 6 miles and provide Gatorade, water, and snacks. Cut-off times apply at aid stations and for overall finish: the 10 mile aid station cut-off is 3 hours 20 minutes, the 20 mile aid station cut-off is 6.5 hours, and all runners must complete their race within 9 hours. Organizers request that 50k participants be capable of finishing within the 9 hour limit.
A rucking division runs with each distance. Weight requirements are body-weight based: over 150 lb requires 20 lb dry, under 150 lb requires 10 lb dry. Weigh-in is expected 30 minutes before the start; weight must be clearly stamped and may not be removed during the event.
Adult tickets include finisher awards, snacks and pizza near the start and aid stations, water and electrolytes, and a pint of Jackalope Brew. Camping and campers are allowed on the property. Well behaved dogs that do not chase horses are permitted. Portajohns and running water are available; there is no electricity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
