Music City Juneteenth Freedom Day 5K
The Music City Juneteenth Freedom Day 5K is an annual event held in Nashville, Tennessee, commemorating the Juneteenth holiday. This event marks its fourth year and takes place at the Fort Cornelia Airpark located in the historic East Nashville area. Participants have the option to join the physical race or take part in a virtual version of the event.
The race features two primary options for participants:
- 3.1 miles (5K) running or walking race
- 3.1 miles (5K) virtual race
The event serves as a fundraiser for several non-profit organizations that focus on youth literacy, health, and wellness. Supported organizations include the Bhegani Education Foundation, the Transformation Life Center-Brown Boyz Read initiative, and a sock and shoe drive for senior citizens at The Harris Plaza.
Participants can collect their race packets on the day before the event at Fleet Feet Green Hills or at the race location on the morning of the run. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as winners within specific age groups. A corporate sponsor supports the event, and entertainment is provided by a live DJ during the activities. For those attending the physical race, registration includes a commemorative shirt, with sizes guaranteed for those who register by early June.
