Murphy’s Mission
Murphy’s Mission is a fundraising event organized by Steeltown Canicross to support the adoption program at Hamilton Animal Services. The event takes place at Christie Lake Conservation Area in Dundas, Ontario, and features canicross races, human-only runs, and a 5 km fun walk.
The event uses a scenic 5 km loop starting from Beach Pavilion 2. Participants registered for the 10 km complete two loops. The course surface includes grass, gravel, rolling hills, and double-track trails. Timing will be by chip and parking is free for participants and spectators.
Offered categories include:
- 5 km single dog canicross, human run, or fun walk
- 10 km single dog canicross or human run (two loops)
- 5 km and 10 km two-dog team canicross options
Canicross categories require proper equipment: a padded waist belt, a 1.5–2 m bungee line, and a sport-specific dog harness. Standard leashes and collars are not permitted; teams without appropriate gear will be moved to the fun walk. A pre-race gear check will be available.
Proceeds go directly to Hamilton Animal Services to fund medical care, behavioural support, enrichment supplies, and adoption outreach. The event operates a no-refund policy and recommends purchasing registration refund protection. Bib transfer options are available per the event policy.
