Murphy’s Mission

Murphy’s Mission is a community canicross and running event at Christie Lake Conservation Area in Dundas, Ontario on November 7, 2026. The event is organised by Steeltown Canicross and raises funds for Hamilton Animal Services’ adoption program; proceeds support medical care, behavioural support, enrichment supplies, and outreach for shelter animals. The fundraiser page shows CA$1,685.49 raised toward a CA$20,000 goal, with 89 participants listed.

The course is a scenic 5 km loop; participants registered for 10 km complete two loops. Terrain includes grass, gravel, rolling hills, and double-track trails. The event is chip timed and will gather at Beach Pavilion 2; parking is free. Canicross categories are timed trail runs for runners with one or two dogs and follow standard canicross guidelines. Human-only 5 km and 10 km categories are available as timed runs. A 5 km fun walk is offered for participants who do not have canicross gear or prefer to walk with their dog on a standard leash.

Required canicross equipment includes a padded waist belt, a 1.5–2 m bungee line, and a sport-specific dog harness; standard leashes and collars are not permitted in canicross categories. Teams without appropriate gear may be moved to the fun walk. Canicross starts are organised in small waves with spacing for safety.
