Muriwai Marathon 2026 : Predator Free Muriwai
The Muriwai Marathon event on 11 October 2026 is a community trail running day on the west coast of Auckland, organised by Predator Free Muriwai as part of the Muriwai Environmental Trust. The event raises funds for local conservation work with the long-term goal of reintroducing kiwi to the Muriwai area.
Courses run on coastal and forest trails and include segments on private property that are only open on event day. Surfaces vary from firm forestry roads to single-track trails, dune trails, stream tracks, and sandy or slippery sections. Participants should expect roots, branches, and variable footing and are advised to plan gear accordingly; trail shoes are recommended but not compulsory. Aid stations are placed around the courses with electrolytes, a water refill station, and mixed lollies. First aiders and marshals are stationed on the course.
Event features at the Surf Club base include food trucks, coffee, live music, family activities, a collaboration bar with Hallertau Brewery for R18+ patrons, and prizegiving. Finisher items include a complimentary soft flask and a native plant. Entry categories and fees are published for the half-marathon, 7 km, and 3 km events. The organiser enforces a strict no-refunds policy; an optional insurance product is offered at purchase. Dogs are not permitted on the trails except registered service dogs; well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the event base. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
