Event details

The Mullaghcarn Giant takes place on Saturday 25 July 2026 in County Tyrone. The race is organised by NIMRA and hosted by Carmen Runners. The course distance is 12.00 km with approximately 500 m of total ascent. The event difficulty is rated 7 (Moderate Terrain, 200 m - 500 m ascent, over 10 km). The route is fully marked, marshals will be positioned along the route, and GPS use is not allowed. Course and safety

The race starts from the Gortin Glens car park and includes a summit of Mullaghcarn (542 m). The route descends through boggy ground, so trail shoes are recommended. Mandatory kit is Level B - Standard and must be carried; required items are a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, and a foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent. The exact kit to be carried may be finalised on the day and will be advised at registration. Runners must have the means to carry the kit; failure to have required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification and random kit checks may be carried out.
