Mullaghcarn Giant Race
The Mullaghcarn Giant Race is a NIMRA League medium distance fell race organised by Carmen Runners at Gortin Glens Forest Park, Omagh. The course covers 12 km with approximately 500 m total ascent and includes the summit of Mullaghcarn (542 m). The route descends through boggy ground, so trail shoes are advised. The course will be clearly marked and marshals will be positioned along the route.
Entries are online only and entry numbers are restricted to 200 participants. The minimum entry age is 17. Entry fees are listed with different rates for affiliated and unaffiliated competitors. Race numbers will not be available on the day.
Timing is electronic using SPORTident cards. Competitors must use an SI card at each control and return their card to race control at the finish area whether they complete the course or retire. Retiring competitors should report to the nearest marshal where possible and then inform race organisers at the finish.
Competitors must carry essential fell running kit as required for the event. Required items include a hat or buff, gloves, waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, waterproof bottoms with taped seams, a foil blanket, a fully charged mobile phone, a whistle and emergency food. Walking poles and headphones or earbuds are not permitted under NIMRA guidelines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
