Event overview

The MTC GRIMALKIN is a single-day ultra run in Scotland listed with a distance of 34 miles. It is Day 4 of the Mount to Coast SCOTIA nine-day end-to-end series. The route starts at Travelodge, Perth (A9) and finishes at the Atholl Guest House in Pitlochry, passing through Bankfoot and Dunkeld en route. All finishers receive a GRIMALKIN medal and male and female champions receive bespoke trophies.

Logistics and rules

Competitor places are limited to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 for SCOTIA entrants (maximum 40). The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4 mph; participants who fall below this threshold may be withdrawn. The race is cup-free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks before the event. Tracking devices with SOS functionality are provided for monitoring during the race.

Entry fees are listed as £90 for the race or £155 for a Plus Race Package that includes a race shirt and hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All payments are non-refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option and a defer option (fee applies) are available at booking. Mandatory kit includes backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit.
