MTC GRIMALKIN overview
MTC GRIMALKIN is a single-day ultra event on 10 May 2028 and forms Day 4 of the Mount to Coast SCOTIA nine-day series. The route covers 34.5 miles with roughly 3,126 ft of ascent and about 2,806 ft of descent. All finishers receive a bespoke GRIMALKIN medal; male and female champions receive trophies (designs pending). Entry fees are listed at £90 or £155 for the Plus Race Package, which includes a race shirt and lightweight hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. Entry payments are non-refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is offered at booking.
Route, logistics and rules
The route starts at Travelodge, Perth A9 and finishes at Atholl Guest House, Pitlochry, with designated checkpoints at Bankfoot (8 miles), Dunkeld (16.4 miles), and Pitlochry (24.3 miles). Competitor places are limited to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 for SCOTIA competitors (maximum 40). The event is cup-free; competitors must bring a reusable cup. Organisers issue tracking devices to entrants for real-time monitoring and SOS. Cut-offs are based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may be withdrawn. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first-aid and emergency food.
