Event

The MTC GRIMALKIN is a one-day ultra running event scheduled for 10 May 2028. It is Day 4 of the MTC SCOTIA nine-day End to End Challenge and forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End series. The route distance is approximately 34 miles (route materials list a total of 34.5 miles). This is the first edition of the MTC GRIMALKIN.

Route and logistics

The route runs from Travelodge Perth A9 to Atholl Guest House, Pitlochry, with designated checkpoints at Bankfoot, Dunkeld and Pitlochry. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks before the event. Each competitor receives a tracking device with an SOS button for monitoring during the race. The event is cup-free; competitors must bring a reusable cup.

Entry, limits and provisions

Entry is limited to 20 competitors plus an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors (maximum 40). Entry fees are stated as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for the Plus Race Package, which includes a race shirt and hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All finishers receive a GRIMALKIN medal; male and female champions receive trophies.

Rules, cut-offs and kit

The organisers enforce a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this may be withdrawn. Entrants must be aged 20 or over. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and an emergency food pack.
