MTC GRIMALKIN - Ultra running event overview
The MTC GRIMALKIN is a single-day ultra held on 30th May 2028 and listed as the 1st edition. It forms Day 4 of the nine-day MTC SCOTIA series and runs from Perth to Pitlochry. The route starts at Travelodge Perth A9 and finishes at the Atholl Guest House, Pitlochry, with intermediate check points at Bankfoot and Dunkeld. The total distance is stated as 34.5 miles, with ascent of approximately 3,126 ft and descent of approximately 2,806 ft.
Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors plus an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors, giving a maximum of 40 runners. All entrants must meet the organiser age requirement and comply with mandatory kit and safety rules. Example mandatory items include a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
The event uses preset cut-off times based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors falling below that minimum may be withdrawn. Organisers provide each competitor with a tracking device with SOS functionality. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants in advance, and tracking is available during the race.
Entry fees are non-refundable. Standard and plus packages are offered (plus includes an embroidered race shirt and lightweight hi-viz jacket if ordered in time). All finishers receive a GRIMALKIN medal; male and female champions receive trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
