Event details
MTC Bodach is a one-day ultra race held on 20 May 2026. The route covers approximately 37.4 miles (listed also as a 38 mile race) with about 2,136 ft of ascent and 2,185 ft of descent. The route starts at Villa Rose Hotel and Spa (F93 C2CF) and finishes at Inishowen Gateway Hotel (F93 PPH9). The event is Day 13 of the MTC MizMal® 14-day end-to-end Ireland series and is organised as part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge. This is the first edition.
Logistics and rules
Entries are limited to 20 race-only competitors plus up to 20 MizMal® entrants (maximum 40). All entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day. Entry fees are non-refundable; listed prices are £90 for the race and £155 for the race package that includes a shirt and hi-viz jacket (order at least four weeks before the event). All finishers receive a bespoke Bodach medal; male and female champions receive trophies.
The race is cup-free. Preset cut-offs enforce a minimum average pace of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this will be warned and may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are emailed to entrants four weeks before the race, and organisers provide tracking devices. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid, and an emergency food pack.
