MTC Bodach : race summary
The MTC Bodach is a single-day ultra race covering 38 miles as Day 13 of the MTC MizMal® fourteen day end-to-end of Ireland. The route starts at the Villa Rose Hotel and Spa, F93 C2CF, and finishes at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel, F93 PPH9. Route mapping and GPX files are provided to entrants only and emailed four weeks before the event.
Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors, giving a maximum of 40 participants. All entries and deposit payments are non-refundable. Entrants must be aged 18 or over.
The organiser enforces preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this threshold may be withdrawn. Each competitor receives a tracking device with an SOS button and may be monitored in real time during the race. All finishers receive a Bodach medal; male and female champions receive trophies.
The race is cup-free; competitors should bring a reusable cup. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps as provided by the organiser, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and basic first aid. Check-points offer food such as malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water, though items may vary. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
