MTC Bodach : race summary
The MTC Bodach is a single-day ultra run covering 38 miles and forms Day 13 of the fourteen-day MTC MizMal® End to End of Ireland. The route starts at Villa Rose Hotel and Spa (F93 C2CF) and finishes at Inishowen Gateway Hotel (F93 PPH9). Total reported ascent is 2,136 ft with 2,185 ft of descent.
Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal® entrants, giving a maximum field of 40. All finishers receive a Bodach medal; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies. There is a Cup-Free policy so competitors must bring their own reusable cup.
Organisers apply strict time restrictions based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be warned and then withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed four weeks before the event. Organisers issue tracking devices with SOS capability so progress can be monitored in real time.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and an emergency food pack. Entry options and fees are published as a standard entry at £90 and a Plus Race Package at £155 which includes race clothing for orders placed at least four weeks ahead.
