MTC Carman

The MTC Carman is a single-day 38 mile ultra running event held as part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge. The route starts at Rolling Wave Guesthouse in Bundoran and finishes at Villa Rose Hotel and Spa, Ballybofey, following much of the MizMal route. Total ascent is 1,862 ft and total descent is 1,819 ft.

Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal competitors, giving a maximum of 40 starters. All finishers receive a bespoke Carman medal; male and female champions receive trophies. There is an optional upgrade to a race shirt and lightweight hi-vis jacket at booking.

The organiser enforces mandatory kit and safety requirements. Competitors must carry a backpack or equivalent, head torch with spare batteries, the provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food, and a waterproof map case. URL issues tracking devices with SOS capability for monitoring competitor progress.

Cut-off times and checkpoint closures are based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. The event is cup-free so participants must use a reusable cup. Entry fees are non refundable; a defer option is available for a fee. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
