Event
The MTC Carman is a point-to-point ultra run held on 18 May 2027. The published distance is 38.3 miles with 1,862 ft of ascent and 1,819 ft of descent. Most of the route follows the MizMal® line and the race also serves as Day 12 of the fourteen-day MTC MizMal® end-to-end series. Finishers receive a Carman medal; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies.
Route and logistics
The route starts at Rolling Wave Guesthouse, Bundoran, and finishes at Villa Rose Hotel and Spa, Ballybofey (F93 C2CF). Entry is limited to 20 race-only places plus an additional 20 places for MizMal® competitors (maximum 40). Entry fee information is published: standard entry and a plus package that includes clothing; deposits and payments are non-refundable. Competitors may add optional personal cancellation insurance at booking; a defer option is available for a fee.
Navigation materials and GPX files are provided to entrants before the event. The organiser issues tracking devices with SOS capability for real-time monitoring. The race enforces time restrictions based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; participants who fall below this threshold may be withdrawn. Checkpoint food is provided; the event is cup-free so competitors are required to supply a reuseable cup.
Mandatory kit and rules
Competitors must carry specified kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food (two chocolate bars), and a basic first aid kit. Entrants must be 20 years or over on the race day and must follow the organiser’s rules and checkpoints. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
