MTC Carman
The MTC Carman is a new ultra running event on 19 May 2026 with a race distance of 38 miles. It is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge and forms one day of the fourteen-day MTC MizMal Ireland series. This is the first edition. Total climb is listed at about 1,862 ft with a similar descent.
Route, entries and race conditions
The route starts at Rolling Wave Guesthouse in Bundoran and finishes at Villa Rose Hotel and Spa, Ballybofey. Most of the course follows the MizMal route. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 race-only entries with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal competitors, giving a maximum of 40 starters. Entry fees are listed as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for a plus package that includes a race shirt and lightweight hi-viz jacket (orders to be placed at least four weeks before the event). All finishers receive a bespoke Carman medal and male and female champions will receive trophies.
The event is cup-free, so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Organisers provide maps and GPX files to entrants in advance and supply individual tracking devices with SOS functionality. There are preset cut-off times based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors falling below this threshold may be withdrawn. Entrants must be 20 years or over on the race day and carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
