MTC Carman
The MTC Carman is a single day ultramarathon of approximately 38 miles that forms one stage of the Mount to Coast MizMal series. The route starts at the Rolling Wave Guesthouse in Bundoran and concludes at the Villa Rose Hotel and Spa in Ballybofey (total distance 38.3 miles). Most of the course follows the MizMal route provided by Wild Atlantic Cycling.
Checkpoints are located along the route at roughly 9.8 miles (R231, Ardeelan Lower), 19.2 miles (Drumgowan), and 29.1 miles (Tawnawully Mountains), with the final section into the finish. The event is cup free and organisers ask competitors to use a reusable cup at checkpoints. Route mapping and GPX files are provided to entrants only, with maps emailed to competitors before the event.
Competitor numbers are limited; the race allows up to 20 entrants plus an additional allowance for MizMal participants, giving a maximum field of 40. The organisers enforce a minimum average pace of 4 mph and operate preset cut off points; participants who fall below the required pace may be withdrawn. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and blister treatment, emergency food, and a waterproof map case. Entry options include a standard entry fee and an upgraded package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi‑viz jacket. Payments and deposits are non refundable unless otherwise specified by the organisers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
