MTC Carman
The MTC Carman is a single-day ultra event covering roughly 38 miles along a route on Ireland’s west coast. The course starts at Rolling Wave Guesthouse in Bundoran and finishes at Villa Rose Hotel and Spa in Ballybofey, with total ascent of about 1,862 ft and total descent of about 1,819 ft. The event is part of the Mount to Coast MizMal Ireland end-to-end series.
Competitor numbers are limited to 20 entries plus an allowance of 20 MizMal entrants, giving a maximum field of 40. All finishers receive a bespoke Carman medal; male and female champions receive trophies. Entry options include a standard fee and a plus package that adds an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-vis jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. Deposits and payments are non refundable, with an optional personal cancellation insurance upgrade available at checkout.
Organisers set cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; participants who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. The race is cup-free and competitors must carry mandatory kit, including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants in advance and participants will be issued tracking devices for monitoring and SOS use during the event.
