MTC Carman : Day 12 of Mount to Coast MizMal®
The MTC Carman is a 38.3-mile ultramarathon held on 18 May 2027 as Day 12 of the fourteen-day Mount to Coast MizMal® event. The route runs from Rolling Wave Guesthouse in Bundoran, Co. Donegal, to Villa Rose Hotel & Spa in Ballybofey, Co. Donegal, with a measured distance of 38.3 miles, total ascent of 1,862 ft and total descent of 1,819 ft.
The course includes three supported checkpoints:
- CP1 Ardeelan Lower : 9.8 miles
- CP2 Drumgowan : 19.2 miles
- CP3 Tawnawully Mountains : 29.1 miles
Organisers provide GPX route files before the event and issue GPS tracking devices for competitor monitoring and safety. Checkpoints offer food and refreshments, but competitors are expected to carry sufficient personal nutrition and a reusable drinking vessel because the event is cup free.
All entrants must follow the official GPX route and maintain a minimum overall average speed of 4 mph, including checkpoint stops. Based on the measured distance, the calculated maximum completion time is 9 hours 34 minutes 30 seconds. The route crosses public roads and single-track sections, so competitors must obey traffic laws and take care near vehicles.
