MTC Carman
The MTC Carman is a single-day ultra running event held on 18th May 2027. The course covers 38 miles (38.3 miles shown in route data) with approximately 1,862 ft of ascent and 1,819 ft of descent. The route starts at the Rolling Wave Guesthouse in Bundoran and finishes at the Villa Rose Hotel and Spa in Ballybofey.
The event is one of the multi-day Mount to Coast MizMal end-to-end series of races. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 race-only entries with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal entrants, giving a maximum of 40 runners. The organisers operate preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors who fall below that average may be withdrawn.
All finishers receive a bespoke Carman medal and male and female champions receive trophies. Entry is non-refundable. Standard entry and a plus package are offered: the standard fee is £90 and the plus race package is £155, which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz race jacket; clothing supply is guaranteed only if ordered at least four weeks before the event. Entrants may add personal cancellation insurance at booking and can defer entry for a fee.
Maps and GPX files are issued to entrants before the race. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and basic first aid and emergency food. The race is cup-free so competitors should bring a reusable cup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
