MTC Carman

The MTC Carman is an ultra marathon distance event covering 38.3 miles. This single-day race is part of the Myths & Legends of Ireland Series and serves as day 12 of the MizMal end-to-end challenge of Ireland. The course follows a point-to-point route through County Donegal, beginning at the Rolling Wave Guesthouse in Bundoran and concluding at the Villa Rose Hotel and Spa in Ballybofey.

The route features a total ascent of 1,862 feet and a descent of 1,819 feet. Participants must navigate the course using provided maps or GPS devices, as the route is not signed. The event is strictly limited to 40 participants, which includes both single-day runners and those completing the full multi-day Irish challenge.

There are three checkpoints located along the course at approximately 9.8 miles, 19.2 miles, and 29.1 miles. These stations provide food items such as malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, and various drinks. This is a cup-free event, requiring all runners to carry their own reusable drinking vessel.

Participants must adhere to a minimum pace of 4 mph to meet specified cut-off times at each checkpoint. Mandatory equipment includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food, and a first aid kit.
