MTC Aibell
The MTC Aibell is a point-to-point ultra running event held on 20th May 2027. It is presented as Day 14 of the MTC MizMal® fourteen day end-to-end of Ireland and forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The published race distance is 27.5 miles (listed also as 27 miles) with total ascent of 1,699 ft and descent of 1,545 ft. The route starts at Inishowen Gateway Hotel (F93 PPH9) and finishes at Malin Head; two intermediate check points are noted at R244, Co. Donegal (9.3 miles) and Balleelaghan (18.2 miles). Maps and GPX files are provided by the organiser to entrants only and emailed four weeks before the event.
Competitor numbers are limited to 20 plus an allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors, for a maximum of 40. The race is cup-free so entrants must bring a reusable cup. The organiser enforces mandatory kit, which includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Real-time tracking devices with SOS are provided to competitors. The event has preset cut-off checks based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; falling below this minimum may result in withdrawal. All finishers receive an Aibell medal and male and female champions receive bespoke trophies. Entry fee options and refund, defer and insurance policies are detailed by the organiser.
