About the race
The MTC Aibell is the final day (Day 14) of the Mount to Coast MizMal® end-to-end series of Ireland. It is a single-day ultra event that covers roughly 27 miles along a coastal point-to-point route, with route details listing a total of 27.5 miles. The course starts at Inishowen Gateway Hotel (F93 PPH9) and finishes at Malin Head.
Two organised check points are listed: CP1 at about 9.3 miles on the R244 in County Donegal and CP2 at about 18.2 miles at Balleelaghan. Entry is limited to 20 dedicated race places plus an allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors for a maximum of 40 starters. Entry fee options listed are £90 for the race or £155 for a Plus Race Package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket (ordering deadline applies). All finishers receive a bespoke Aibell medal and male and female champions receive trophies. The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph with preset cut-off points; competitors who fall below this may be withdrawn.
It is a cup-free event; competitors must bring a reusable cup. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch, maps and compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first-aid and emergency food.
