MTC Aibell
The MTC Aibell is a single day ultra run listed as part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series and as Day 14 of the MTC MizMal, the fourteen day end to end of Ireland. The published total route distance is 27.5 miles and the course largely follows the MizMal route provided by Wild Atlantic Cycling.
The event starts at Inishowen Gateway Hotel, F93 PPH9 and finishes at Malin Head. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 race entrants plus an allowance of 20 MizMal competitors, for a maximum of 40 participants. All finishers receive an Aibell medal; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies that are in design.
The organisers apply preset cut off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors falling below this threshold may be withdrawn. The race is cup free and competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid, emergency food and a waterproof map case. URL provides a tracking device with an SOS button to entrants and supplies maps and GPX files by email four weeks before the event.
Entry is non refundable. Published fees are £90 for standard entry and £155 for the race package that includes a race shirt and lightweight hi vis jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event.
