MTC Aibell
The MTC Aibell is an ultra running event held on 20th May 2027 and forms Day 14 of the MTC MizMal end to end of Ireland. The course covers a total distance of 27.5 miles with 1,699 ft of ascent, 1,545 ft of descent and a peak of 630 ft. This is the first edition of the MTC Aibell and it is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series.
The route starts at Inishowen Gateway Hotel (F93 PPH9) and finishes at Malin Head. Two intermediate checkpoints are listed: CP1 at R244, Co. Donegal (9.3 miles) and CP2 at Balleelaghan (8.9 miles, 18.2 miles cumulative). Competitor numbers are capped at 20 race entries plus an allowance of 20 MizMal entrants for a maximum of 40.
Organisers enforce time restrictions based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this will receive warnings and may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants approximately four weeks before the event. Each competitor receives a tracking device with real time tracking and an SOS function.
All finishers receive an Aibell medal; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies. Entry fees and an optional race package, kit requirements, mandatory equipment, refund rules and age restrictions are detailed in the event terms.
