Logistics and rules
The route starts at Inishowen Gateway Hotel (F93 PPH9) and finishes at Malin Head. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 race-only places, plus an allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors, for a maximum of 40 starters. Entrants must meet the event age requirement and carry mandatory kit: backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food pack (two chocolate bars), and a basic first aid kit. Organisers provide a tracking device with an SOS function and will issue GPX maps to entrants before the event.
The race is cup-free so competitors should use a reusable cup. The event enforces preset cut-offs based on a minimum average pace of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may be withdrawn. Entry fees are listed as £90 for standard entry and £155 for a race package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket. Finishers receive an Aibell medal; male and female champions receive trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
