MTC Aibell
The MTC Aibell is a single-day ultra run scheduled for 20th May 2027 and forms Day 14 of the Mount to Coast MizMal end to end challenge of Ireland. The event is described in several places as a 27 mile race; route data and start/finish waypoints list a total of 27.5 miles and 1,699 ft of ascent.
The published route starts at Inishowen Gateway Hotel (F93 PPH9) and finishes at Malin Head. The course includes two staffed checkpoints and preset cut-off times based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below the required pace may be withdrawn. The race is cup free; entrants are asked to use a reusable cup.
Entries are limited to 20 standalone race places with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal competitors, giving a maximum of 40 runners. All deposits and entry fees are non refundable; a Personal Cancellation Insurance option is offered at checkout. The standard entry fee and a plus package including an embroidered race shirt and lightweight hi‑viz jacket are listed in the event information.
All finishers receive a bespoke Aibell medal; male and female champions will receive bespoke trophies. Organisers provide maps and GPX files to entrants four weeks before the event and supply tracking devices with SOS capability for real time monitoring during the race. Competitors must be aged 20 or over and carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
