About the race
The Mt Jumbo Elk Ramble is organized as a trail event on Mount Jumbo in Missoula, Montana, taking place on Lincoln Hills Dr. It is described as the only organized trail race on Mt Jumbo and the course traverses the winter home of the Mt Jumbo elk herd. The Mount Jumbo Wildlife Management Area closes to all recreation on December 1.

The in person race is capped at 300 participants; the virtual option is capped at 35 participants. Registration opens July 30, 2026. In person registration closes October 8, 2026, and virtual registration closes November 17, 2026. Entry fees listed are $45.00 for the in person 15K and $40.00 for the virtual option.
Organizers note there will be no wait list for 2026 and there are no options to transfer or defer entries for this year.
