About the race
Run Wild Missoula presents the Mount Jumbo Elk Ramble 15K, an organized trail race held on Mount Jumbo on November 7, 2026. The race is a roughly 15 kilometer trail course on City Conservation and Open Space Lands in the North Zone of Mount Jumbo that traverses the winter home of the Mount Jumbo elk herd. The Mount Jumbo Wildlife Management Area closes to recreation on December 1.
The event starts and finishes at the Hellgate Soccer Fields on Lincoln Hills Road. The in-person field is capped at 300 participants; entry fees are non-transferable and non-deferrable. Registration pricing is tiered: $45 during the early window and $55 in the later window; Run Wild Missoula members receive a $3 discount. A three hour course time limit applies.
On-course aid stations are located near mile 1.75, mile 4, and mile 8.25; each station will provide porta potties, water, and gels. The event is cupless; participants should bring a personal cup, bottle, or hydration device. All in-person finishers receive chip timing, a custom bib, on-course aid, and a collectible Elk Ramble dog tag; post-race food includes a baked potato and cheddar roll provided by Texas Roadhouse.
A virtual Elk Ramble option is available with a separate cap and registration window; virtual participants receive swag but not a race bib and submit results online.
