Light the Way 5K
Light the Way 5K is a nighttime community run held at Fort Missoula Regional Park in Missoula, MT. The event features a 5k on paved sidewalks and a short section of crushed gravel, with luminaires lining the course. Most years the route has packed snow with patches of pavement.
A free 1/2 mile Kid’s Fun Run is offered; registration is required for children. The event includes chip timing and custom race bibs. Post-race refreshments at the finish include cookies, candy canes, and cocoa, and participants can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus.
An Ugly Sweater Contest is held at the starting area before the race and a prize is awarded to the winner. The event is limited to 350 participants. There are no refunds or deferrals; bib transfers are permitted if completed before December 1.
Packet pickup is available at the Runner’s Edge basement and at Fort Missoula Regional Park near the Bella Vista Pavilion on the south side of the soccer complex. Organizers recommend using headlamps, flashlights, and traction devices on shoes and advise preparedness for rain, ice, or snow. Volunteer roles include packet pickup, course marshaling, and distributing post-race food; volunteers receive a $15 Runner’s Edge gift card and post-race food and drink.
