Light the Way 5K & Kids Run
Light the Way 5K is a holiday-season evening race held on December 19, 2026, at Fort Missoula Regional Park in Missoula, MT. The main course uses paved sidewalk paths and about a half mile of crushed gravel. Most years the surface is packed snow with patches of pavement; participants are advised to be prepared for snow, ice, or rain and to bring lighting and traction equipment.

The event course is lined with luminaires. Finish-line provisions include cookies, candy canes, and cocoa. Chip timing and custom race bibs are provided. The start area features an ugly sweater contest judged immediately prior to the race, and there are opportunities to meet and take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women.
Registration details are listed as TBD. The race is limited to 350 participants. There are no refunds or deferrals; bib transfers are allowed before December 1. Packet pickup and race-day registration occur at Runner's Edge and at Bella Vista Pavilion on the south side of the Fort Missoula soccer complex.
Volunteers are needed for packet pickup, course marshaling, and post-race service. Volunteers receive a $15 Runner's Edge gift card and post-race food and drink. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
