Event Overview
The Mt. Hood Trail Runs is a classic Pacific Northwest trail race that started in 1999. It offers three distances with courses that provide views of Mt. Hood, Oregon's highest mountain. The event is known for its volunteer support and friendly atmosphere.
Distances
The race features three distances:
- 50M
- 50K
- 25K
The 50M and 50K courses are primarily run on the Pacific Crest Trail, which is heavily shaded and offers iconic views of Mt. Hood. The 25K distance does not use the PCT but takes runners around Clackamas and Timothy Lakes on single-track and double-track trails.
Location and Dates
The start and finish are at the Clackamas Lake Historic Ranger Station, near Timothy Lake, approximately 20 miles south of Mt. Hood. The event is held on July 11th–12th.
Post-Race and Awards
After the race, cooked burgers are served to all racers and volunteers, with meat and veggie options available. Beverages include beer from Cascade Lakes Brewing, hard cider from AVID, sparkling waters, and chocolate milk. Every finisher receives a Mt. Hood Trail Runs pint glass. Awards are given to the top three men, women, and non-binary racers, as well as age group winners three-deep. A raffle offers products from event sponsors.
