Event overview
The Mt Bogong Conquestathon is scheduled for Saturday 28 February 2026. The event is a single-day trek of 21 km that reaches the summit of Mount Bogong, which has an elevation of 1,986 m. The route climbs about 1,410 m in the first 9 km via Staircase Spur to the summit, then descends Eskdale Spur to Camp Creek Gap and follows a 4WD track for the final 8 km back to Mountain Creek Campground. The 2026 event is the 46th staging and is organised by volunteers.
Entries, categories and safety
Entries are capped at 350 participants and there are no entries on the day. Categories include competitive and non-competitive entries, and team prizes are offered for the largest team and the fastest team. Fees are listed in two phases: early-bird and after a specified date (examples shown are Adult $40/$60, Individual U18 $30/$40, Family $100/$150). Registrations close shortly before the event. Mandatory gear is required to start. Under-18s must have a parent or guardian contactable for the whole event. There are clocked checkpoints on course and participants who do not meet those checkpoints will be required to withdraw or return to the start area as directed. The event raises funds for local community groups, including the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club Search and Rescue, and course marshals include volunteer search and rescue personnel.
