Course
The Mt Bogong Conquestathon is a single-day trek or run with a total distance of 21 km. The route ascends 1,410 meters in the first 9 km via Staircase Spur to the summit of Mt Bogong, which is Victoria's highest mountain at 1,986 meters. The descent follows Eskdale Spur to Camp Creek Gap and continues for the final 8 km along a 4WD track back to the start and finish area at Mountain Creek Campground.
Event Details
The event takes place on Saturday, 28 February 2026. It is the 46th staging of the event. Participation is capped at 350 entrants and no entries are accepted on the day. A mandatory gear check is required before bib collection. All participants must carry specific mandatory equipment.
Registration and bib collection are available on Friday afternoon at the Mount Beauty Auditorium or early Saturday morning at Mountain Creek Campground. A mandatory event briefing is held before the start. There are strict cutoff times: participants must reach the Mt Bogong summit checkpoint by 12:00 PM and the Camp Creek Gap checkpoint by 2:00 PM.
Categories and Fees
Participants can enter as competitive or non-competitive. Categories and entry fees are:
- Individual U18: $30 (early bird) / $40
- Adult: $40 (early bird) / $60
- Family: $100 (early bird) / $150
Team entries are also accepted for awards like the Largest Team and the ALTRA Fastest Team. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian in attendance.
Logistics and Safety
The event raises funds for local community groups, including the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club Search and Rescue. Parking at Mountain Creek Campground is extremely limited, and carpooling is strongly encouraged.
