Mt Bogong Conquestathon
The Mt Bogong Conquestathon is a 21 km return trek to the summit of Victoria's highest mountain, reaching an altitude of 1,986 metres. This event follows a loop course that starts and finishes at the Mountain Creek Campground. Participants may choose to either walk or run the route.
The course features 1,410 metres of elevation gain within the first 9 km as it ascends the Staircase Spur to the summit. After reaching the peak, the route descends via the Eskdale Spur to Camp Creek Gap. The final 8 km of the journey follows a 4WD track that leads back to the finish line at Mountain Creek Campground.
Participation is capped at 350 people, and there are no registrations available on the day of the event. All entrants must pass through specific checkpoints within designated time limits:
- 21 km return trek via Staircase and Eskdale Spurs.
Mandatory gear is required for all participants and is verified during registration and bib collection. Under 18 participants must have a parent or guardian in attendance for the duration of the event. The course is marshalled by volunteers from the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club Search and Rescue.
Categories for entry include individual adult, under 18, and family groups. Participants can enter into competitive or non-competitive categories. Team awards are also available for the largest team and the fastest team based on the combined times of the first three finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
