Buffalo Stampede Festival, Bright and Mount Buffalo, Victoria
The Buffalo Stampede Festival is a multi-day series of sky running and trail running races held in Bright and on Mount Buffalo. The 2027 event runs from 19 to 21 March and draws over 3,500 trail runners. The event village is located at Pioneer Park Recreation Reserve, 64/72 Coronation Ave, Bright VIC 3741.
The festival offers a program of races across a wide range of distances and formats:
- 100 km Buffalo Stampede 100km solo or team
- 42 km SkyMarathon
- 20 km SkyRun
- 10 km Twilight
- 152 km Ultra Slam combined distance
- 72 km Grand Slam combined distance
- 100 km Team Relay teams of four
- 5 km Family Trail
- 2 km Junior Trail
Course notes describe mountain and trail terrain. The Buffalo Stampede 100 km route runs from Bright to the Horn, the highest point of Mount Buffalo, and includes long sections inside the National Park and on the plateau of Mount Buffalo. The SkyMarathon is a mountain marathon route from Mount Buffalo to Bright with a predominantly downhill profile. The SkyRun is a loop that passes Mystic and Clearspot.
