Movement is Medicine - Elephant Mountain Challenge
Movement is Medicine presents the 4th Annual Elephant Mountain Challenge on September 26, 2026, held in the lead up to National Truth and Reconciliation Day. The event takes place in kyʕ̓amlu̓p - ʔaqyamłup - Nelson, British Columbia.
The route is 16 km long with a climb of about 1200 meters. The course starts at the Lyons Bluff trailhead, ascends to the CBC tower, then descends to the Flagpole, passes the Pulpit Rock lookout, reaches Johnstone Road and continues about 3 km along Johnstone, crossing the Big Orange Bridge to finish at the entrance to Lakeside/Rotary Park.
The challenge is open to runners and fast hikers. The course cutoff time is 6.5 hours. Participants are asked to carry enough water to reach Johnstone Road (13 km from the start). A water station will be available at the Pulpit trailhead.
This is a non-profit event; registration proceeds are donated to the Sinixt Confederacy and the Pulpit Rock Trail Society. Registration is open. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
