About the race
The Mountain Lakes Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning running event held on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at Wildwood Elementary School in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey (51 Glen Road). The event uses a USATF certified 5K course (NJ25032MNS) and is open to runners, walkers and strollers. Children ages two and younger participate free.
Weather conditions do not cancel the event; it proceeds rain or shine. Proceeds support the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA scholarship program to help community members access YMCA programs and services. Race-day activities include a DJ and music, coffee and hot chocolate, snacks and refreshments, event T-shirts for eligible registered participants, and awards and recognition. For safety, dogs, bicycles, scooters, skates and similar equipment are not permitted on the course. Registration fees are listed as $35 through November 18 and $40 beginning November 19, with an earlier registration deadline noted to guarantee the official 2026 Turkey Trot T-shirt.
Packet pickup is offered in advance at the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA and packet pickup is also available on race day at Wildwood Elementary School. Sponsorship opportunities are available at multiple giving levels to support the event and the YMCA mission. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
