Event Overview

The Mountain Goat Run is a longstanding Syracuse tradition, now in its 48th year. The event features multiple race formats, including a main 10-mile road race and a two-person relay over the same distance. It also includes a Kids Run (half-mile), a Family Pet Walk, and a Virtual 10 Mile option.

Location and Schedule

The event takes place in Syracuse, New York, with the primary race day activities centered at Clinton Square on South Salina Street. Packet pickup and in-person registration occur at Fleet Feet Sports in East Syracuse the day before the race and at Clinton Square on the morning of the event. Registration is online only; paper forms and cash are not accepted.

Additional Activities

Beyond the main races, the event week includes other activities such as an Earth Day Cleanup and a Ceremonial Painting of the MGR Blue Line. There is also a post-race party with live music and sponsor samples. The event hosts the USATF Niagara 10 Mile Open/Masters Association Championships, and current USATF Niagara members receive a registration discount.

Awards and Recognition

Awards are presented to the top three male and female runners in the 10-mile race. Time bonus ribbons are awarded for specific finishing times. The event also has a Hall of Fame, with an induction ceremony held the Friday before race day. All awards and premium items must be collected on race day.
