Event overview
The 2026 Mount Vernon Park 5k & 10k is scheduled for September 6, 2026 at Mount Vernon District Park in Alexandria, VA. Points from the races count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Summer Series. A virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia is listed as the event charity.

Both races follow a scenic trail route within Mount Vernon District Park. The 5k is two laps of the course and the 10k is four laps. Walkers are welcome. The Back of the Pack time is listed as 12:00 min/mile.
Logistics, services and awards
The event is chip timed. Registered participants receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (drifit) event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for entries received before August 26. Packet pickup is available at the event; organizers recommend arriving about one hour before the event to check in. Water stations: three on the 10k (approx. miles 1.55, 3.10 and 4.65) and one on the 5k (approx. mile 1.55). Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms are located near the parking lot. Live results are posted on Athlinks and via a QR code at the race; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race.
