Mount Sequoyah Triathlon
The Mount Sequoyah Triathlon is a multi-sport event held at the Mount Sequoyah Education and Retreat Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This event is designed for children between the ages of 5 and 15, as well as their parents. The course takes place in a setting that provides views of Northwest Arkansas and features a mix of shaded areas and open paths.
The competition begins with a swim in a heated outdoor pool. Following the swim, participants move to the bike segment, which consists of loops around the top of the mountain. The event concludes with a run on a flat, paved course. The Fayetteville Police Department assists with road closures during the cycling portion to manage athlete safety.
Participants are divided into three main age categories, each with specific distances:
- 5 to 8 Years Old: 25-yard swim, 1-mile bike (1 loop), and 0.5-mile run.
- 9 to 12 Years Old: 75-yard swim, 2-mile bike (2 loops), and 1-mile run.
- 13 to 15 Years Old: 150-yard swim, 3-mile bike (3 loops), and 1.5-mile run.
Registration for the event includes a swim cap, race sticker, finisher medal, and access to live results and race photos. Water is provided for all athletes during the run. After crossing the finish line, there is post-race food, drink, and music for participants and spectators. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each individual age group from 5 to 15. The event also serves as part of the Race the Ozarks Youth Triathlon Series.
