Event Overview
The Mount Aviat Academy 5K & Sister Walk is a community run and walk event. This is the 13th annual occurrence.
Location & Schedule
The event takes place in Childs, Maryland. The main address for the event is Mount Aviat Academy at 399 Childs Road. The start and finish line is located in front of Valhalla Brewery on 41 Cherry Hill Road in Elkton. Packet pickup begins in the school gym. An optional Catholic Mass takes place before the event at Holy Family Hall on the school campus.
Course & Amenities
The event is a 5K distance. There is a water station at the start/finish line and another near the middle of the course on Avalon Avenue. Bathrooms are available in the school gym and at the Moose Lodge near the start line.
Registration & Awards
Pre-registration includes a t-shirt, though shirts are not guaranteed after a certain date. There is a family pricing option. Day-of registration is available at a higher price without a shirt. Awards are given for overall male and female winners, as well as first, second, and third place in multiple age categories. The awards ceremony with refreshments and a participant raffle is held in the school gym after the event.
Logistics
Parking is available at the Mount Aviat Academy school lot and at the Elkton Moose Lodge near the start line. Event organizers recommend parking at the school and carpooling to the Moose Lodge due to limited space there. The event is professionally timed by Blue Cheetah Sports Timing.
Charity
