Mount Afton Challenge
The Mount Afton Challenge is an annual event hosted by F3 Afton in Concord, North Carolina. Now in its seventh year, the event takes place in Afton Village at 5401 Village Drive NW. The format is a timed endurance challenge lasting a total of two hours.
Participants aim to complete as many 1 mile laps as possible within the two-hour timeframe. The event features two primary categories:
- Runner
- Rucker
The challenge is open to anyone interested in running, rucking, or walking. There is no requirement for participants to remain active for the entire duration; the format allows individuals to move for as much or as little of the two hours as they choose. Prizes are awarded to the individuals who cover the greatest distance in both the runner and rucker divisions.
This event serves as a fundraiser for mental health and suicide prevention services. Proceeds are donated to the Cabarrus County Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) through the F3 Foundation. Following the conclusion of the activity, a local venue in Afton Village provides a space for participants and supporters to gather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
