Mount Afton Challenge : event description
The Mount Afton Challenge is the seventh annual running, rucking, and walking event hosted by F3 Afton in Afton Village, Concord, North Carolina. It is scheduled for January 16, 2027 at Afton Village, 5401 Village Drive NW, Concord NC 28027.
The event is a two hour distance challenge in which participants complete repeated 1 mile laps. Results are determined by total distance covered within the two hour period, with separate Runner and Rucker divisions. Prizes are awarded to the runners and ruckers who cover the most distance.
This event is a fundraiser for mental health and suicide prevention services. Through the F3 Foundation, funds raised at the event will be donated to the Cabarrus County Chapter of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Registration is free and open to running, rucking, and walking participants. Registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes January 16, 2027. Registration does not require continuous running or rucking for the entire two hour challenge; participants may choose their own pacing and breaks.
After the event the Wine Room in Afton Village will open to serve food and drinks for participants, volunteers, and supporters as the event concludes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
