About the race

The Mount Afton Challenge takes place on January 16, 2027 at Afton Village, 5401 Village Drive NW, Concord, NC. F3 Afton is hosting the seventh annual edition of this event. The event is open to runners, ruckers, and walkers.

Participants compete in Runner and Rucker divisions to complete as many 1 mile laps as they can. Prizes are awarded to the runners and ruckers who cover the most distance. Registration is free; registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes January 16, 2027. Signing up does not require continuous running or rucking for the entire challenge period.

The event is a fundraiser for mental health and suicide prevention services. Funds raised through the F3 Foundation will be donated to NAMI Cabarrus Rowan Stanly, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. After the event, The Wine Room in Afton Village will be open to serve food and drinks for participants, volunteers, and supporters as the gathering concludes.
