About the race
Motion is Lotion is the second annual community event presented by Augusta University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program in celebration of National Physical Therapy Month. It brings together several short-distance events and outreach activities that highlight movement, mobility, and the role of physical therapists.
The event is held at Riverview Park in North Augusta with parking near the baseball fields and directions to the Greenway. The main course is an out-and-back route to SRP Park and back, totaling 3.12 miles, and it is an open course shared with the public; participants are asked to use respectful passing maneuvers and yield to bikers. Fruit and water will be available after the events.
Distances and formats:
- 5K run
- 5K walk
- Kids 1 mile run
- Virtual 5K
Event specifics include registration fees per event, included t-shirts for some entries, and a kids race that provides a goodie bag and a medal but does not include a t-shirt. Walkers must record their own finish times at the finish line; runners receive times via bib timing. The virtual 5K participants receive a t-shirt when they email a picture of their logged 5K. Awards include medals and gift certificates for top finishers; the overall top finisher receives a $50 gift card to Frog Hollow. All proceeds support the Augusta University Student Physical Therapist Association and a pro-bono clinic at Christ Community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
