Event overview
The Mosby Woods Turkey Trot & Sidewalk Stroll is a low-key community run/walk held on Thanksgiving morning in 2025 in Fairfax, Virginia. The event includes the following distances:
- 5K
- 1K kids’ run
The event is presented as a neighborhood celebration and a chance to support local food needs. Registered participants receive a bib for each race. Medals are awarded: Gold, Silver, Bronze for male and female finishers in both events; all kids’ 1K finishers receive a finisher medal and the first 50 5K finishers receive a finisher medal.
Logistics and donations
The start/finish is at the Mosby Woods Pool, 3136 Fair Woods Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22030. The pool site includes a large parking lot; one Port-A-John will be available and full restroom facilities will not be available. No roads will be closed for the event; the suggested course uses paved sidewalks, paved or gravel trails, and street crossings with dedicated crossing guards. Course maps are provided for both the 5K and the 1K kids’ run.
There is no formal entry fee; participants are asked to donate non-perishable food items as their entry contribution. Donations will be given to the Food For Others food bank in Merrifield.
