Event overview

The Morning After Fell Race takes place on 1 January 2026 and is organised by Mercia Fell Runners Club. The event is a fell race only, with no separate event for walkers. The course is a varied 8 km circuit with a total ascent of 274 metres. The route passes through Rectory Woods, Carding Mill Valley and the northern part of the Long Mynd. The course is fully marked and is described as suitable for runners new to fell running.

Entry, prizes and logistics

Pre-entry is available and closes on 28 December 2025 at 23:00; entries opened on 22 October 2025. Pre-entry fee is £8 and on-the-day entry is £10. Limited entries will be available on the day. Entries recorded so far total 27 participants. Registration and race base are at Church Stretton Scout Hut, Church Street, Church Stretton, SY6 6DQ. Public car parking is available in Church Stretton (SY6 6BX) and participants are asked to park responsibly.

Prizes will be awarded after the race in categories: M/W U18, U23, Senior, V40, V50, V60, V70 and First local runner for Church Stretton, All Stretton, Little Stretton and Hope Bowdler.
