Morgan Valley Marathon
The Morgan Valley Marathon is held in Morgan Valley, Utah, with start and finish at Riverside Park, 195 E. 125 N., Morgan City. The event offers the following race distances:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
- 10k
- 5k
The course is described as spectator friendly and combines flats and rolling hills with scenic views. The routes are not closed to automobile traffic; signs, mile markers, arrows, volunteers, and police officers will assist on course. Participants are responsible for knowing the course and are encouraged to preview it in advance.
Packet pickup is available on multiple days at specified locations prior to race day. Packets include sponsor samples, a race bib with timing chip, and a T-shirt. There is no packet pickup on race morning. A photo ID is required to receive a packet; someone else may pick up a packet if they present the participant’s ID or a photo of the ID.
Aid stations are placed every other mile beginning at mile 2 and provide water, Gatorade electrolyte drinks, GU gels, coke, and other endurance supplies. Toilets are available at Riverside Park and at specific on-course mile markers for each distance. Timing chips must be worn on the bib and kept on for accurate timing; removing or transferring a bib is not allowed and may result in disqualification.
Parking is available at Riverside Park and Morgan High School; parking in the business area across from the park entrance or on the streets in front of the park is discouraged. Finishers receive a Morgan Valley Marathon medal and T-shirt. Finish line activities include an awards ceremony, post race food and drinks, and medical assistance; only race participants are allowed in the finish line area. The 100th runner receives a $100 prize.
Overall awards are given 1st through 3rd place male and female for each distance. Age group awards go to the top 3 male and female in these categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90 and up. Time limits are as follows: Marathon eight hours, Half marathon four hours, 10k two hours, 5k one hour. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
