Moosalamoo Ultra
The Moosalamoo Ultra is a trail running event in Goshen, Vermont that starts and finishes at the Blueberry Hill Inn and Outdoor Center near Middlebury. The courses follow mountain single track through the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area and much of the Green Mountain National Forest, with climbs that reach the summit of Mount Moosalamoo and offer views of Lake Dunmore. The event is held on trails that include some sections on private property that are only open to the public on race day.
The event offers two distance options:
- 14 miles
- 36 miles
Elevation gain is approximately 2400 feet for the 14 mile course and more than 5000 feet for the 36 mile course. Aid stations are placed on both routes; the 14 mile course has aid at about miles 8 and 11, and the 36 mile course has multiple aid stations with drop bag service available to specified stations. The race is cup free, so participants must carry their own reusable cup, bottle, or hydration system to access fluids. Dogs are allowed with leash and control requirements on the opening road section and with an expectation that owners clean up after them. Entry includes an event shirt, post race meal, a finishers award, and access to primitive camping near the Outdoor Center. Prizes are awarded to the first through third overall male and female finishers for each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
