Event overview

Moonlight on the Falls is the 6th annual nighttime running event held August 29-30, 2026 at Blackwater Falls State Park in Tucker County, West Virginia. The event program includes a Marathon, Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, a Distance Challenge (ultra distance), relay options, and a 2026 Season Pass for unlimited racing. Race activities and packet pick up will include live music, vendors, and food.

Course and format

The course uses an all-paved loop that starts and finishes at Pendleton Point. The Quarter Marathon loop is approximately 6.55 miles. The Distance Challenge uses a total cumulative laps scoring format and offers Solo and team relay options including 2-person, 4-person, and 6-person teams. Team organizers set a password to add teammates; each relay participant registers and pays individually. Team members will have timing chips on their bibs under the described format. Distance Challenge participants may use on-course parking to set up personal aid stations. A sunrise celebration with breakfast items is planned for Distance Challenge participants.

Requirements and participant items

All participants are required to wear a reflective vest or similar gear and a headlamp. Glow sticks and other lighted accessories are encouraged. All participants will receive a Super Soft Triblend McClumsy long-sleeve T-shirt and a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
