Event details
The Moonlight on the Falls event takes place Saturday August 29 to Sunday August 30, 2026, at Blackwater Falls State Park in Tucker County, West Virginia. It is the sixth annual edition and includes multiple race options:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- Quarter Marathon (approximately 6.55 miles, looped)
- Distance Challenge (solo and 2-, 4-, and 6-person relay options)
- Relay
- 2026 Season Pass - Unlimited Racing
Packet pick up and pre-race activities are planned with live music, vendors, and food. A sunrise celebration with breakfast is provided for Distance Challenge participants.
Course, rules and services
The course uses an all-paved 6.55-mile loop that starts and finishes at Pendleton Point in Blackwater Falls State Park. The Distance Challenge is scored by total laps; teams are set up by one member who creates a password for teammates, and each teammate registers and pays individually. On-course parking is allowed for Distance Challenge participants to set up personal aid stations.
All participants are required to wear a reflective vest or similar gear and to carry a headlamp. Participant swag includes a long-sleeve triblend McClumsy T-shirt and a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
