Moonlight on the Falls Marathon
The Moonlight on the Falls event takes place at Blackwater Falls State Park in Davis, West Virginia. This nighttime running event is staged on an all-paved 6.55-mile loop course that begins and ends at Pendleton Point. Roads within the park are closed to outside traffic during the evening hours for the safety of the participants.
The event offers several individual race distances based on the 6.55-mile loop:
- 26.2 Miles (4 loops)
- 13.1 Miles (2 loops)
- 6.55 Miles (1 loop)
- Distance Challenge (Ultra)
The marathon distance has a time limit of 9 hours and 45 minutes. The Distance Challenge is a timed event where runners complete as many loops as possible throughout the night. This challenge is available for solo participants or teams of 2, 4, or 6 people. In the team category, all members may run at the same time, and scoring is based on total cumulative laps.
Requirements for participants include the use of a reflective vest or similar gear and a headlamp. Registered runners receive a long-sleeve T-shirt and a finisher medal. The event features a festival atmosphere with live music and food vendors. Participants in the Distance Challenge have access to on-course parking for personal refueling and a sunrise breakfast celebration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
