Moonlight Margarita 5K Run
The Moonlight Margarita 5K Run is an annual evening 5K organized by The Trail Conservancy. The 2026 event takes place on Thursday, June 4 at Auditorium Shores in Austin and follows a course that travels into downtown, runs alongside Lady Bird Lake and the Butler Trail on Cesar Chavez, loops around near MoPac, and returns to Auditorium Shores for a Finish Line Party.
Registration for the run includes race entry, a 2026 event shirt, entry to the Finish Line Celebration, two complimentary Maudie’s margaritas, and Tex Mex snacks. Only participants 21 and older are eligible to receive alcoholic beverages. All registration fees go directly to The Trail Conservancy to support the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail.
Event services include packet pickup with a race shirt, running bib with margarita drink tickets, safety pins, water and other swag; registrants receive an email with packet pickup dates and locations about two weeks before the run. The Finish Line Celebration at Auditorium Shores includes margarita bars, a nacho bar, live music, activations, and non alcoholic drink options. The event provides volunteer opportunities and supports team registration through the event registration system. The run notes road closures and heavier traffic in the surrounding area on event day and lists a set of prohibited items for participant safety.
