Mooloolaba Triathlon
Mooloolaba Triathlon is a multi-race event held on the Sunshine Coast with race activity focused around Mooloolaba Beach and the Esplanade. The weekend programme includes a standard distance triathlon, sprint and aquabike races, relay categories and a sport and lifestyle expo. An event app offers live athlete tracking.
Distances for the standard triathlon:
- Swim: 1.5 km
- Bike: 40 km
- Run: 10 km
The swim uses a 1500 m flag-shaped course starting at the eastern end of Mooloolaba Main Beach. Athletes swim anti-clockwise with the first turn buoy at about 350 m and complete two left-hand turns before returning to shore. The bike is an out-and-back 40 km course that uses the Sunshine Coast Motorway with a 20 km turnaround and a short climb onto the motorway. The run is a two-lap clockwise course along the Esplanade.
Entry and eligibility notes: individual competitors must be at least 15 years old as at 31 December 2026; relay teams may include 14 year olds who perform one leg. Age categories are determined by age on 31 December 2026. Check-in is required for eligibility to race; relay teams must complete entries and any team changes by early March or at the official check-in sessions. Athletes receive a choice of a running cap or a visor as part of 2027 entry inclusions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
