Monarch Migration Run
The Monarch Migration Run is an inaugural running event held on September 27, 2026 at Ruby Grant Park in Norman, Oklahoma (4343 36th Ave NW, Norman, OK 73072, USA). The race accompanies the Annual Monarchs in the Park celebration and recognizes the park as a stopover habitat for migrating monarch butterflies.
The event offers two distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile
Registration opens July 1, 2026 and closes September 6, 2026. Registration fees listed are $35.00 for the 5K and $25.00 for the 1 Mile Caterpillar Crawl. Race registration includes a custom monarch themed race medal, a custom monarch themed bib with timing tag for 5K participants, a custom color-changing monarch tote bag included with registration, and entrance to the Monarchs in the Park celebration.
The festival portion is educational and family friendly, focused on monarch butterfly migration and pollinator conservation. The celebration includes live music and food trucks. Raising Cains Norman will be at the event handing out tea and lemonade. Because the race is part of the Monarchs in the Park event, it will stand alone and will not count toward the overall Norman Race Series awards presented at the Christmas 5K.
