Monarch Fund 5K Run/Walk - Harriet Island, Saint Paul
The Monarch Fund 5K Run/Walk takes place at the Harriet Island Pavilion along the Mississippi River with views of the downtown Saint Paul skyline. The event includes a certified 5K course (Certification Code MN18048RR) and uses chip timing. Start and finish lines are located near the pavilion.
Distances:
- 5K run and walk, certified course, chip timed.
- Free Kids Run near the pavilion for ages 12 and under; participants receive a medal and must be signed up in advance.
Course and logistics: there is one water station located near the turnaround around mile 2. Dogs and pets are not allowed on the 5K course, except for service animals. Bib and packet pickup plus race-day registration occur at the pavilion. Several parking lots are available on Harriet Island; some roads near the pavilion close before the race.
Awards and fundraising: prize money is offered to the top three overall male and female finishers ($200, $150, $100). Five-year age group awards are presented three deep across a broad range of age categories. New awards for 1st place masters (40-49), grandmasters (50-59), and super grandmasters (60+) male and female are included. A special award will be given for the best age-graded performance. All race proceeds support the Rene and Brian McCoy Cancer Recovery Research Monarch Fund at Hamline University. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
