Moccasin Bend Fall Classic
The Moccasin Bend Fall Classic is a long-running road race in Chattanooga, Tennessee held on the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute campus. The event returns for its 43rd year and is managed by the Chattanooga Track Club. The course is distance-certified and course timed, and it is described as flat with a total elevation gain of 258 feet and a maximum grade of 1 percent.
The route is an out and back that begins at the front gate of the mental health institute, runs straight with no corners until the 5k turnaround at Moccasin Bend Golf Course (1.5 mile), and reaches the 10k turnaround at Hudson Road (3.1 miles). There are two water stations located at the 1.5 mile and 3.1 mile marks; 10k runners pass the first station twice.
Race proceeds benefit PATH Chattanooga, a program coordinated through Johnson Mental Health Center that provides outreach and case management to people with mental illness who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. PATH offers services at no cost to eligible individuals and assists with housing, employment, medical care, and treatment for mental health and co-occurring addiction.
Day of race registration is online only with payment by credit card; paper applications are not accepted. Race parking is on the Moccasin Bend campus near the gymnasium with signage directing to packet pickup and race-day services.
