Moccasin Bend Fall Classic
The Moccasin Bend Fall Classic is a road race in Chattanooga, Tennessee, returning for its 43rd year and managed by the Chattanooga Track Club. The event is distance-certified and course timed, and proceeds benefit Johnson Mental Health Center's PATH program.
The race offers these distances:
- 10 km : distance-certified, counts for CTC Runner of the Year points
- 5 km : counts for Runner of the Year points
The course is an out-and-back that begins and ends on the campus of the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute. The road is straight with no corners until the 5k turnaround near Moccasin Bend Golf Course at 1.5 miles and the 10k turnaround at Hudson Road at 3.1 miles. Total elevation change is 258 feet with a maximum grade of 1%.
Two water stations are on course, located at the 1.5 mile mark and the 3.1 mile mark; 10k runners pass the 1.5 mile station twice. A strict course cutoff is enforced and the minimum 10k pace is 16:30 per mile.
Day-of registration is available online only and payment is by credit card; no paper applications, cash, or checks are accepted. Race parking and packet pickup are on the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute campus, with directions and signs for parking and services.
Awards are not presented in a ceremony; finishers may check results at the awards table and pick up certificates for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall or age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
