MMTT Splash and Dash - Geneva
MMTT Splash and Dash is a youth triathlon with two age divisions held at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Fitness and Health Center in Geneva, IL. Age is determined by the athlete's age on race day.
Distances include:
- Junior (ages 6 to 10): 100 meter swim and 1 kilometer run
- Senior (ages 11 to 17): 200 meter swim and 2 kilometer run
Swim format differs by division. Junior swimmers complete four lengths in a 25 meter pool in a snake pattern, starting individually at 10 second intervals; lifeguards and volunteers are on duty and swimmers may pass others. Senior athletes share a designated lane with one other swimmer and swim down and back until their distance is complete; Seniors start in waves of ten.
Transition takes place in a contained grassy area outside the pool entrance. Juniors may place belongings in assigned spots on arrival. Seniors are asked to wait until the Junior event is complete before using the transition area. The run follows the trail around the Fitness Center property and includes volunteers and an aid station with water.
Events are chip timed by It’s Race Time, Inc. USA Triathlon membership requires a $10 license fee valid for one year. Registration fee is $27 per athlete. Awards are separated by gender in age groups 6–8, 9–10, 11–12, 13–14, and 15–17. USAT provides finisher medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
