The 2026 MLK Dream Run
The MLK Dream Run is an annual sports event held at the Portland Community College Cascade Campus in Portland, Oregon. This multi-day gathering serves as a fundraiser for the Soul District, with proceeds supporting small business growth and youth entrepreneurship initiatives. The event features a variety of competitive distances and community activities centered around a vendor market and entertainment area.
Participants can choose from several chip-timed race distances held on Sunday:
- 15K
- 10K
- 5K
In addition to the main races, a free event is held on Saturday for children aged nine and under. This 400m non-timed run covers approximately a quarter mile. Saturday also includes a pre-packet pickup, a course test-run with the Nike Shakeout, and live music.
All finishers in the competitive categories receive a Nike race t-shirt, a branded swag bag, a cold beverage, and a grilled cheese sandwich. Awards are presented according to USATF guidelines across various age groups, including Youth, Open, Masters, and Super Masters. Notable prizes for overall winners include round-trip airline tickets, while age-category winners may receive beverage prizes or specialized gift packages. The event grounds also host the Soul-Ful Vendor Village, featuring local food, beverages, and raffle drawings from regional businesses.
