MLK Day 5K Drum Run: Let Freedom Run!
The MLK Day 5K Drum Run is a community walk and run held on Monday, January 19, 2026, in Doraville, Georgia. The event gathers diverse local groups to observe Martin Luther King Day in the spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood, combining fellowship and fitness. The meet point is listed at First Baptist Church of Doraville, 5935 New Peachtree Road, Doraville, GA 30093; the Doraville MARTA Station is located across the street.
The event is a 5K walk/run that takes place entirely on New Peachtree Road. The course is described as flat and fast and is an out and back route that is USATF certified and serves as a Peachtree Road Race qualifier. A 3.1 mile drumline accompanies runners and walkers along the course.
The event allows participants to register a school PTA, church, or other organization to receive proceeds from the MLK Day 5K. Approved beneficiaries include Team “AKA” on MLK Day, Bay Creek Running Rams, Black Girls Run, Black Men Run, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Covenant Community, Inc., Crop Top Crew, Dolphins, Faith Walkers, GirlTrek / Lynn Jones, GirlTrek Retirementville, Team International Charter Academy of Georgia, Melody’s Magnificents, Peachtree Road Boot Camp, runningnerds, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (ATL), South Fulton Run Club, THRIVE Wellness DCSD, and Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta.
