Mizuno Midsummer 5k 2026 Presented by Smith Thompson Law LLP
This is the 16th annual event presented as a hybrid format with both virtual and in-person options. The virtual window runs from July 9 to July 12, 2026; the in-person event takes place on July 11, 2026 at Gold Bar Park in Edmonton, Alberta.
Distances offered:
- 5 km run/walk, virtual or in person
- Kids 1 km, in person at Gold Bar Park
Each 5 km entry includes a swag package: a pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 29 running shoes (women sizes 6-11 B width; men sizes 8-12 and 13 D width) and a pair of GoodR sunglasses with 11 colour choices, with a stated retail value over $200. Kids 1 km participants receive a finisher medal. For participants outside Edmonton, race packages can be sent to the nearest Running Room store.
Prizes from Mizuno are awarded to the top three finishers in each age group (U20, 20-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+). Participants anywhere in Canada are eligible for age-group prizes if they submit a GPS tracking link (Strava, Garmin, MapMyRun, etc.). Cash prizes are offered for the fastest three open runners and the fastest three women from the in-person event. The Gold Bar Park course will be chalked and signed to aid navigation. Proceeds support the Concordia Thunder cross country and indoor track teams, and results are posted the evening after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
