Mischief on the River 5K
The Mischief on the River 5K is a community road race organized by River Rats Athletics, presented by Spanner Tree & Shrub Care, Inc. The event is set for October 11, 2026 at Frenchtown Elementary School, 902 Harrison St, Frenchtown, NJ. The course is a scenic, flat out and back on a rail trail along the Delaware River and includes an aid station near the turn around point.
Timing is provided by Pretzel City Sports. The venue offers on site parking and access to bathroom facilities. The field is limited to the first 225 participants and the event will take place rain or shine.
Registration fees vary by date: early registration priced at $39.99 through September 12, late registration at $44.99 from September 13 to October 10, and race day registration available for $50 cash only. Registration includes an event branded BibBoard, noted as a $10 value, and each participant will receive race branded bib snaps supplied by bibBoards featuring a logo inspired by artist Aidan Higgins.
Awards include overall 1st place in Male, Female, and Non binary divisions, each receiving a $50 gift card to Aardvark Sports Shop, and age group awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in these age brackets: 14 and under, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 plus.
A timed challenge called the "naked" run asks participants to run without a watch, phone, or pacer after submitting an estimated finish time; those closest to their estimates in each gender category win free entry to the 2027 race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
