Minnesota 5K SCADaddle for Research

The event is a two-day gathering in Saint Paul that raises funds and awareness for research into spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), a cause of heart attack noted to affect women under age 50, pregnant women, and new mothers. Research is described as needed to identify causes and improve treatment options.

Activities include a 5K trail run/walk on winding trails at Battle Creek Regional Park through natural areas in Ramsey County. The event offers a community atmosphere with vendors, a SCAD store, kids activities, a playground, snacks, race bibs, and medals for runners and walkers. Registration has a published fee for the 5K and options that bundle the race with a social reunion and dinner; a discount code and registration deadlines are listed and a t-shirt is guaranteed for those registered by an indicated date.

On the evening before the 5K there is a SCAD Social Reunion and Dinner at the Doubletree by Hilton St. Paul East where a presenter from the Mayo Clinic will present recent SCAD research findings and answer questions. The program includes packet pickup, a meet and greet, a dinner, and a presentation.

The event also outlines vendor opportunities, volunteer roles with scheduled setup and cleanup times, and tiered sponsorship levels for businesses and organizations to support research funding. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
