Event overview
The Mines of Spain 100 takes place on October 17, 2025 in Dubuque, Iowa at Louis Murphy Park (1700 S. Grandview Ave.). The event offers two distances:
- 100 Mile
- 100K
Both races use a roughly 20-mile loop. The 100-mile field completes five loops (approximately 14,000 ft total elevation gain). The 100K field completes three loops (approximately 8,400 ft total elevation gain). Elevation gain is about 2,800 ft per loop. Time limits are 33 hours for the 100-mile event and 23 hours for the 100K event.
Course and registration
The course is a marked loop that runs mainly inside the Mines of Spain Recreation Area. Surfaces include dirt, grass, rock trails and short paved connectors. Terrain ranges from steep, technical single-track to rolling double-track and prairie sections. The loop passes scenic viewpoints of the Mississippi River and Horseshoe Bluff and starts and finishes at Louis Murphy Park. Packet pickup is available the day before and on race morning.
Registration closes October 1. The race offers partial refunds and deferrals with written request and specified deadlines: 100% deferral or 50% refund by June 30; 75% deferral by August 31. Deferral credits are valid for two years and are nontransferable. Bib transfers are not allowed. Mile 90 Photography will provide free race photos to runners.
