Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon
The Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon weekend takes place in Milwaukee on October 3 and 4, 2026 for its 44th edition. The event program includes a full marathon, a half marathon, and a 5K run and walk, along with an Own the Hoan challenge that combines the 5K and a Sunday distance.
The course runs along the lakefront and through lakefront parks, with more than 40 percent of the route alongside Lake Michigan. Runners cross the Hoan Bridge, an infrequent course feature that provides views of Lake Michigan and downtown Milwaukee. The half marathon and the full marathon share the first 10 miles of the route.
An indoor pre-race waiting area is located just yards from the start line to allow runners to stay warm and dry before the race. The Own the Hoan challenge requires participation in the 5K on Saturday and either the half or full marathon on Sunday. Challenge finishers receive a bonus third medal and additional swag.
Participants may dedicate their race to the Kindness Challenge benefiting the This Time Tomorrow Foundation. The foundation delivers nomination driven Random Acts of Kindness grants to people fighting cancer, including surprise face to face financial awards.
