Milwaukee Turkey Trot 5K & 8K
The Milwaukee Turkey Trot is a chip-timed Thanksgiving running event held in Milwaukee, WI, on November 26, 2026. The event offers two measured distances:
- 5K
- 8K
The course runs on the streets of Veterans Park with the start/finish area at McKinley/Veterans Park, 1750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, Milwaukee. Course time limits are posted for each distance: 5K participants have 1 hour 20 minutes and 8K participants have 1 hour 30 minutes. All water stations include water and there is no gear check at the event site.
Participant gear options include a classic t-shirt or an upgrade to a thin-tec soft polyester pullover; other performance apparel options have been offered in past years. Cranky Al’s Donuts are provided at the finish line. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and overall; kids who run the Kids Dash receive a finisher award. Participants must be present on event day to receive awarded medals; mailed medal requests incur a fee.
The event is part of the Wisconsin Runs Race Series and the nationwide Thankful Turkey Run/Walk, with results included on a national leaderboard. A virtual entry option is available; virtual packets are mailed after race day. Volunteer roles include aid stations, check-in, and course marshaling; volunteers receive a free event shirt.
