44th Annual Milton Optimist Independence Day 10K Run / 5K Walk / 1 Mile Run
This event at Milton High School in Milton, Wisconsin, offers three distances and is organized by the Milton Optimist Club. Advance online registration opens April 30 and closes June 29; the advance fee is $10 and increases to $20 thereafter. Pre-registration packet pickup and day-of registration occur the morning of the event at the Milton High School event entrance.
Distances:
- 10 km run - out and back on country roads with a few rolling hills.
- 5 km walk - follows the shaded Ice Age Trail out-and-back, then rejoins the 10k finish.
- 1 mile run - on residential streets with a steep downhill at the finish.
The 10k course has three water stations; the 5k walk route has one water station. All participants under 18 must have parent or guardian permission. Anyone competing in the 10k must be at least 13 years old on race day or receive specific permission from the race director.
Awards include first place overall male and female in both the 10k and the 1 mile runs. Age-group awards are given first through fifth place in the listed categories for the mile and 10k events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
