Stride 4 Shelter
Stride 4 Shelter is an annual athletic event held to benefit Housing 4 Our Vets, a program managed by Rock Valley Community Programs, Inc. The event is located at the North Pavilion in Riverside Park within Janesville, Wisconsin. It serves as a fundraiser for a transitional housing initiative that supports homeless male veterans from Wisconsin and Northern Illinois by providing housing, meals, and case management services.
The event features two distinct distance options for participants:
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
- 1-Mile Kids Fun Run
The courses are situated in a scenic park environment and the event proceeds regardless of weather conditions. Professional timing is provided for all runners in the 5K category. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in the men's, women's, and youth divisions.
All registered participants receive a running bib, a t-shirt, and a finisher medallion. Registration is available online until the day before the event, with same-day registration also offered at the park pavilion. The start and finish lines are both located at the North Pavilion. Walkers are permitted to participate in the 5K event and typically begin their course after the runners have started. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
