Event overview
The Stride 4 Shelter event takes place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Riverside Park - North Pavilion in Janesville, WI. The program includes the following distances:
- 5K Run/Walk - $25
- 1-Mile Kids Fun Run - $10
Online registration opens November 3, 2025 and online registration closes Friday, April 10 at 4:00 PM; same-day registration is available on the day of the event. The race is the fourth annual 5K and will be held rain or shine. Professional timing is provided by Race Day Events. Medals are awarded to first, second and third place finishers in the men's, women's and youth divisions. A course map for the 5K is available from the organizer.
Charity, services and what registrants receive
The event benefits Rock Valley Community Programs, Inc.'s Housing 4 Our Vets, a transitional housing program on the RVCP campus established in 2011 for homeless male veterans. Housing 4 Our Vets serves veterans in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, partners with the Madison VA Hospital, accommodates up to 48 residents, and offers assistance for up to 24 months. Services include housing, utilities (including cable and wireless internet), transportation options, three meals daily, personalized case management, monthly pro-social activities and group therapy focused on substance use recovery and life skills. All registrants receive a race bib, a commemorative event t-shirt (register before March 20 to guarantee size), and a finisher medallion with lanyard.
