Stride 4 Shelter: Benefiting Housing 4 Our Vets
Stride 4 Shelter is the fifth annual community 5K event held in Riverside Park - North Pavilion in Janesville, Wisconsin. The event raises funds for Housing 4 Our Vets and is scheduled to take place rain or shine at Riverside Park, 2600 Parkside Dr, Janesville, WI 53548.
Race offerings include:
- 5K Run/Walk : 3.1 Miles
- 1-Mile Kids Fun Run : 1 Mile
Professional timing is provided for runners by Race Day Events (RDE). Medals are awarded to the first, second and third place finishers in the men's, women's and youth divisions. All registrants receive running bibs, t-shirts and finisher medallions with lanyard. T-shirt size is guaranteed for registrations submitted before March 20. Listed registration fees are $25.00 for the 5K and $10.00 for the 1-Mile Kids Fun Run.
The beneficiary, Rock Valley Community Programs, Inc., is a private non-profit serving Rock County since 1971. Housing 4 Our Vets, established in 2011 on the RVCP campus, provides transitional housing for homeless male veterans from Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. The program partners with the Madison VA Hospital, accommodates up to 48 veterans, and offers up to 24 months of support including utilities and internet, transportation options, three meals daily, personalized case management, monthly pro-social activities, and group therapy focused on substance use recovery and life skills.
