Miller Mountain Trail Challenge
The event takes place at 156 Jurista Dr S in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania and offers trail running and hiking on Miller Mountain. Multiple course options are listed for participants.
- 25K run
- 25k hike
- 5 Mile
The 25k course features approximately 4,700 feet of elevation gain and includes four separate ascents of Miller Mountain, each with over 1,000 feet of climbing, and multiple aid stations. The route begins on a short dirt road before the first climb, passes a summit pond, traverses private properties including Bennie's Nursery and Tree Farm, and includes rocky, wet descents and several viewpoints, including sights over the Susquehanna River and northwest toward farming valleys. Organizers state the 25k is not a beginner trail course.
The 5-mile course gains about 2,000 feet and highlights several vistas on a shorter route up and down the mountain, with steep climbing sections and rocky, wet downhills on the return.
Registration has tiered fees by date for each distance and closes shortly before the event. Packet pickup is available the evening before the race at the start/finish area and also on race morning. All participants receive a customized finisher gift, event swag, and a post race meal. Top male and female finishers in each distance receive custom awards. Net profit benefits Countryside Conservancy and Wyoming County United Way. A race day basket raffle will also raise additional donations; cash, Venmo, and PayPal will be accepted.
