Military Matters VeteRUN

Military Matters VeteRUN is a multi-event running occasion at The National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri, taking place August 15–16, 2026. The event includes in-person and virtual options and features family activities and multiple organizations that support local veterans.

Proceeds from the 5K support Military Matters, a program that provides legal services to military service members and veterans. The racecourse has been updated so the start and finish share the same location; participants should note the route is typical sidewalk width and take caution when using strollers or wheelchairs.

Packet pick-up is scheduled for the morning of August 15. Participants who register by August 1 are noted to receive a t-shirt, though supplies may run out. Registration for in-person events opens January 29, 2026 and closes August 15, 2026. Virtual registration opens March 11, 2026 and closes August 16, 2026. Fees vary by event.

Awards will be given to the top overall female and male, the top overall female and male veteran, and the top males and females in each age group: 19 and under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70–79, and 80 plus. Only service animals are permitted on site.
