Miles for Music
The Miles for Music event takes place in historic downtown Beaufort, North Carolina. This annual event is held to support the East Carteret High School Marching Mariners. Funds raised through participation fees and sponsorships contribute to purchasing instruments, upgrading equipment, and providing financial assistance to students in the band program.
The course features an out-and-back route along the Beaufort waterfront on Front Street. The terrain is flat, making it accessible for wheelchairs and suitable for those participating in their first race. The following distances are available:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
Strollers and leashed dogs are permitted to join participants on both the 5K and 1 Mile courses. Packet pick-up is available locally the evening before the event and on the morning of the race at John Newton Park.
Awards are presented for the 5K event in several categories. These include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for Male and Female Masters (ages 40+), as well as age groups for 18-39 and 13-17. For participants aged 12 and under, awards are given to the 1st and 2nd place finishers in both the male and female categories. Participants who register by April 30th are guaranteed a race t-shirt, while those registering after this date receive shirts based on availability.
