Miles for Music : Beaufort, NC
Miles for Music is the 7th annual East Carteret High School Band 5K and 1 mile fun run/walk held on May 16, 2026 in historic downtown Beaufort at 500 Front Street on the Crystal Coast. The event offers two distances:
- 5K
- 1 mile fun run/walk
Proceeds from sponsorship and participant registration directly benefit the East Carteret High School Marching Mariners. Funds will be used to purchase and upgrade instruments, buy band equipment, provide financial assistance to band students, and support other program needs.
Registration opens November 24, 2025 and closes April 30, 2026. Registration fees listed are $30.00 for the 5K and $20.00 for the 1 mile fun run/walk. Participants registered by April 30 are guaranteed a race t-shirt; registrations after that date may receive a shirt based on availability.
The course is an out and back route along Front Street with waterfront views. The course is described as easy and flat and has wheelchair accessibility. Strollers and leashed dogs are allowed in both distances.
Awards for the 5K are given by age and gender categories, including masters ages 40 and over, age groups 18 to 39, 13 to 17, and 12 and under with multiple places awarded in each category.
Packet pick up is available the morning of the race at John Newton Park, 500 Front Street. Early packet pick up is available Friday, May 15 at Periwinkle, 110 Middle Lane from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
