The 7th Annual East Carteret High School Band Miles for Music is set for May 16, 2026 in downtown Beaufort, North Carolina at 500 Front Street. The event includes a community 5K and a 1 mile fun run/walk.

Proceeds from sponsorship and participant registration directly benefit the East Carteret High School Marching Mariners. Funds will be used to purchase and upgrade instruments, acquire band equipment, provide financial assistance to band students, and support other needs of the band program.
The course is an out and back route along Front Street with waterfront views in historic downtown Beaufort. The route is described as easy and flat and is wheelchair accessible.
Registration opens 11/24/2025 and closes 5/3/2026. Registration fees are $30 for the 5K and $20 for the 1 mile fun run/walk. Participants registered by April 30 are guaranteed a race t-shirt; registrants after that date may receive a shirt based on availability.
Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome in both distances. Packet pick up is available on the morning of the race at John Newton Park, 500 Front Street, with early packet pick up available at Periwinkle, 110 Middle Lane on Friday, May 15.
Awards for the 5K are offered by age and gender, including masters 40 and over, ages 18-39, ages 13-17, and 12 and under, with placings specified for each category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
