Miles for Minds 5K
The Miles for Minds 5K is a sporting event held at Roosevelt Park in Edison, New Jersey. The event offers options for different activity levels and supports the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute at JFK University Medical Center. Funds raised contribute to patient care, research, and facility upgrades for rehabilitation services, including brain injury and cardiac programs.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5 km
- 1 mile Walk and Roll Fun Run
The 5 km race is a USATF sanctioned and certified course. It is timed and scored competitively by CompuScore. The course consists of a park loop on paved roads, featuring wooded and lakeside scenery. Water stations are positioned at the start, along the course, and at the finish line. For safety reasons, baby strollers, bicycles, pets, skates, and roller blades are not permitted in the 5 km event.
The 1 mile Walk and Roll Fun Run takes place around the lake in Roosevelt Park. This event is not timed or scored and is open to walkers and those "rolling." It is intended for participants seeking a lighter pace and is not eligible for race awards.
Registration for the 5 km includes an official runner bib, a t-shirt, and refreshments. The Fun Run registration also includes a t-shirt and refreshments. An awards ceremony follows the completion of the races, recognizing the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in various age groups ranging from 14 and under to 70 and over.
