Event Overview
Miles for Migraine Pennsylvania is a fundraiser for migraine and headache awareness, treatment, and research. The 14th annual event will be held at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia. It is described as more than a walk or run, with opportunities to connect with the local migraine and headache community, listen to speakers, and visit sponsors in a festival area.
Distances and Activities
Participants can choose from three main in-person activities:
- 5K Chip Timed Run: A professionally timed running event.
- 2 Mile Untimed Walk: A non-competitive walking option. Participants are free to turn around at any point.
- Relax: A non-participatory option allowing people to be part of the live event atmosphere, visit sponsors, cheer for finishers, and use a dedicated tent.
There is also a virtual participation option for those unable to attend in person, which includes a participant shirt, event bib, and finisher medal mailed for an additional charge.
Key Details
The 5K run is chip-timed. The 2-mile walk and Relax participation are free, though donations are encouraged. All walk and run finishers receive a finisher medal. A participant shirt is not included with the standard registration for the in-person run or walk; it is available as a separate purchase.
Funds raised benefit Miles for Migraine's programs and services, as well as the Jefferson Headache Center, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and U Penn Headache Center to support local migraine research and fellowship training.
Awards are given for categories including top individual fundraiser, top fundraising team, largest patient/caregiver/advocate team, a spirit award, and 1st place overall for female, male, and non-binary runners in the 5K. A caregiver appreciation award nomination is also mentioned. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
