Mike Sterling 10k/5k
The Mike Sterling event is part of the National Hard Crab Derby in Crisfield, Maryland. It is presented as the 47th annual edition and takes place with start and finish at the Crisfield City Dock at the end of Route 413. The event program includes multiple race formats and a ruck.
The course is described as fast and flat, running through the city, neighborhood streets, and along waterfront outskirts. Water stops are provided at three locations along the route. The 10k ruck requires a 20 pound weight and uses the same course as the 10k race.
Race organization notes state the event proceeds support the Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce. The event is held rain or shine and refunds are not offered. Entry fee levels change over time: fees increase from $25 to $35 on August 24, 2026 and to $40 on race day. Participants who register on or before August 1, 2026 are guaranteed a t-shirt.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2026 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wellington Beach. The event also reflects a 2023 change that converted the former 5k Walk into a 5k Race; there is no separate walking-only race.
