Mighty Hero Homes 5K and Fun Run
The Mighty Hero Homes 5K and Fun Run is a fundraising event in McDonough, Georgia, held through the Lake Dow and Lake Dow Estates communities. The event benefits Mighty Hero Homes, an organization focused on eliminating veteran homelessness, and all proceeds from the races are directed to the organization. This is the second annual running of the event. Henry County is the scheduled location for the first Mighty Hero Community construction.
Event offerings include multiple race formats and a virtual option. Distances:
- 5K Run/Walk, 3.1 miles
- 50 m Fun Run for ages 6 and under
- Virtual 5K option
Registration opens in March 2026 and closes on November 7, 2026. Fees include a $45 registration for the 5K and virtual 5K, and no fee for the 50 m fun run. The event is dog and stroller friendly and will use separate wave groups for those participants. The course is USATF certified (GA25063WC) and the event is listed as a Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
Awards are planned for overall male and female finishers, the top three runners in each age group, and an award for the most decorated patriotic stroller. Each race entry will be dedicated to a veteran, and the organizers are accepting veteran nominations for dedication; nominations may be living, retired, active, or deceased.
